In the current era of globalization who didn’t know television. Although only a
box-shaped object, but television is one of the one-way communication media
which has become a necessity for many people. Television today is the most
popular electronic media until now, from the black white television
until full color television. To get the television is no longer as difficult as the ancient times
where the television is a rare item and only certain circles who could have it.
Today television has reached more than 90 percent of the population in
developing countries. In the ancient time, television may only consumed
for a certain age and
a certain circle, but now television can be enjoyed and very easy to reach by all people without
age limit. Nowadays, there is a digital television also, then
the television also available in hand phone, smart phone, Internet and etc.
TELEVISION word is a compound word from the
Greek tele (τῆλε, "far") and vision ("vision") from the
Latin, then television can be interpreted as a "means of distance
communication that uses visual media / vision."

In 1936, for the first time the
Berlin Olympics were broadcast to television stations in Berlin and Leipzig
where the public can watch every competition directly. In the early days of
television, television box electromechanical began commercially sold from 1928
until 1934 in Britain, the United States, and Rusia. The first commercial television had sold by Baird in the United Kingdom
in 1928.
Based
on the opinion of some people that I get, they said that nowadays television is
the main facility which has being a complementary in their lives. Because for
most people, no exception me, television is a medium of communication and the
best tool of information in delivery to each user.
Many of the benefits of positive television for
example:
1. One of the media in the delivery
information in effective way (by video and audio)
2. Can be used and enjoyed by all people
and ages
3. Be a tool of education through the
several impressions programs available
4. Expanding knowledge a lot of people
about the outside world
5. Providing actual news from various
worlds, etc.
Programs that are aired on television now has already wide range such as news, sports, cooking programs, reality shows, music programs, infotainment until television drama or soap opera (sinetron). Treat a varied and exciting program make people honored to spend some time sitting in front of the television. But behind it all, unwittingly television has give a lot of negative influences in human life both children and adults. We must be careful because television can being a good friend but could also be the enemy away.
The negative of television such as:
1. A lot of valuable time-consuming
2. There are some television programs
that are not worth showing
3. Can change the mindset of many people
in the wrong direction through some impressions that are not worth it
4. Had a great impact on growth of children's
if the watch is not supposed to.
5. Can affect the health
There are a
lot of positive things that we get in television, but there are a lot of negative
things also. We can prevent the negative effects of television through ourselves,
such as we organize our time in watching television, pick a good impression that
do not carry negative impact for ourselves (selective), accompany the children
in watching television and etc.
